Smith & Tinker is looking for a highly motivated hands-on Operations Specialist who builds and operates solutions for our production data center and corporate environments.
Your goals are the high availability and performance of a well connected secure and scalable infrastructure for millions of public Internet players attaching browsers and toys to our services and online games.
You help identify technology solutions and have demonstrated practical experience to configure, test, deploy, and troubleshoot them.
Your scope includes corporate and production network routers, switches, firewalls, high availability load balancers, servers, storage area networks, cloud computing, SQL clusters, Active Directory, DNS and other services.
Your role includes “live” deployments and proactive monitoring, notification and incident resolution.
5+ years of relevant hands-on technical experience, and an excellent track record of individual achievements
Very high technical competence with a rare mix of intelligence, integrity, domain knowledge, verbal agility, and diplomacy which allows you to rapidly earn the trust of technically-astute teams across the company
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and balance partnership and individual achievements to build and operate technology solutions
Strong practical experience with hardware, Windows and Linux network load balancing concepts and their implementation
Strong work experience with Windows and Linux operating systems and databases. Windows server 2008, CentOS 5.1, and MySQL 5.1 are a plus
A solid understanding of IP networking, VLAN’s, network devices, and common topologies
Skilled in leading projects, especially in deploying live end-user systems
Strong ability to configure Open Source solutions including monitoring platforms like Nagios and Multi Router Traffic Graph (MRTG)
Strong track record of successful data center hardware and software deployments for gaming properties and cross property infrastructure
Ability to implement and operate corporate technology solutions, including Active Directory
Capability to implement disk, tape and S3 data backup and retention solutions
Practical understanding of Storage Area Networks and ability to configure storage controllers
Strong experience with Sonic Wall firewalls and Cisco routers and core switch configurations including FWSM firewall modules and ability to operate these on a day-to-day basis
Desire and practical ability to maintain a secure data center and corporate environment
Excellent communications skills
