Overview
Language International is looking for a hands-on PHP architect and team lead to join our team in developing our study abroad site. Join us at Language International, a team of language and technology enthusiasts working together to build the best language course search site on the internet. Today, we serve over 50,000 students a year and manage Language International sites in thirty different languages.
We do (humbly) think that Language International is a cool place to work. Our team is a diverse mixture in everything from cultural backgrounds and languages spoken to taste in music and clothes. But, there is one thing that binds us all: a drive to excel at what we do. We'll do whatever it takes to deliver the best language course search experience, even if it means staying up to fix a website bug. We work in an intense, fast-paced environment, relying on every member of the team to carry their share.
Don't worry, we don't take ourselves too seriously. Whether it's showing off our culinary skills during team cooking events, showcasing our hidden genius in impromptu talent shows over catered lunch, or rehearsing the train dance during our summer party cruise or weekend party in Vermont, we love to have a good time together!

You'll be leading our development team in an agile collaborative environment dedicated to developing the Language International booking platform, solving difficult issues related to building a multi-lingual website, and integrating the newest APIs and technologies.

Responsibilities
Define the architecture of the site
Plan sprints with our scrum team
Coach the development team members
Help hire and train new developers
Help code the most complex features
Experience
Extensive experience architecting and building consumer-facing applications with PHP
Experience of interest in leading and coaching team members
Experience working with scrum or similar agile, collaborative process
Experience learning a second language. Living / studying abroad experience is a plus
Education
Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
