About Sustainable Silicon Valley (SSV):
Sustainable Silicon Valley (SSV) is a dynamic collaboration of 120+ businesses, governments, academic
and non-governmental organizations (Partners), and scores of volunteers addressing environmental
sustainability in Silicon Valley. We envision a healthy environment, a vibrant economy, and a socially
equitable community. SSV was designed to move beyond the traditional command-and-control model
of environmental regulation to one of collaboration and partnership. By focusing on the desired
outcome, rather than compliance-driven standards, participants can choose the methods to reach that
outcome that make the most sense financially and technologically for each of them. We operate at the
intersection of policy and action.
Unpaid Volunteer Position
Time Commitment: 8-12 hrs/week in the SSV Santa Clara office location

Responsibilities
Ensure all design is unified across print and web materials and platforms
Expand and refine current design style sheet to be more comprehensive: specific to each platform/material
Ensure hi-res logos are available for all partner logos [work with business development on this]
Continually update partner logos on Universal Marketing folder
Assign a designer to website and EcoCloud teams to ensure branding and style mandate is translating to the web in a smooth and cohesive fashion
Work closely with both teams to fulfill any and all front-end design needs they may have
Update Marketing and Universal Marketing folders and subfolders with the most accurate files: idml, CS4, JPEGs, PDFs, EPS, and/or Word docs [of final content] for all materials
Ensure consistent/accurate use of icons, logos, branding of programs/products/services, and their graphic elements across all materials and platforms
Create a formal process for all incoming [creative briefs/consultations] and outgoing [print bids] requests in addition to production schedules, content maps, and budgets [this should be standardized for organizational efficiency]
Draft design ideas for social media outreach, e-newsletter, postcards, advertising options etc
Continue to build internal media library [with options for stock photos]
Work closely with community print shops to arrange tours and forge relationships
Formally present the new design direction to volunteers/interns at a staff meeting
Skills
Strong motivation to excel at SSV and help drive the EcoCloud project to succeed
Excellent writing and communication skills, including technical writing and editing
Excercises initiative, used to taking on responsibility and producing consistent results
Dependable, communicates clearly and collaborates in a team setting toward shared goals
Initiative and reliability, used to taking on responsibility and producing consistent results
Proficient in PC or Mac OS and standard office applications (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Familiarity with internet browsing, search and social networking websites
