Publicist 4-Month Project

Matches That Matter is a social introduction service that helps people over 40 meet by working in small groups for local non-profit organizations. Our market is men and women who are interested in developing serious romantic relationships. This is NOT an online dating service.
Are you an experienced publicist and PR guru and an entrepreneur at heart? Do you thrive in a fast paced performance based environment where you can be both strategic and tactical? If so, our start-up firm may be the place for you. We are hiring now as we are launching in 5 weeks.

The Position
The publicist is initially responsible for increasing Matches That Matter’s Bay Area presence and impact through the use of all forms of media. One of the primary goals of this position is to bring our programs, activities, and success stories to life in order to inform and engage supporters and volunteers in a compelling manner.

1) Your most recent experience with local media outlets in the Bay Area both large and small.
2) Describe any publicity you have provided for a consumer service or retail organization.
3) Your experience with working in a start-up.
Create and implement all aspects of the PR strategy; emphasis on booking interviews and article placements
Develop and pitch story ideas. Interact with reporters and manage all press interactions
Assist with social media campaigns
Communicate programs, services and success stories in clear, compelling ways, digitally and in traditional media
Write and edit press releases
Book speeches, presentations and appearances for founder
Cultivate relationships with relevant online media contacts to support outreach efforts, e.g., bloggers, web editors etc., at local media sites
Create written resources for online uses, such as blogs, articles, tips and suggestions
Manage online forums and answer website inquiries
Work closely with the Director of Marketing
Extensive Bay Area media and press contacts
5 years minimum experience in PR
Excellent writing skills
We launch in 5 weeks. Come join our team of 5 bright, energetic, high performers as we build the Bay Area component of our service. The national launch will begin in 12 months.
This project will be compensated primarily in the form of equity. All expenses will be generously reimbursed. In an effort to be flexible and engage highly qualified individuals, we also offer part-time work (4 days/week) which will also be compensated with an ownership stake in the company.
