Want to work at a start-up where you can really make a difference?
Glassdoor, the world’s fastest growing career community and 2012 Webby Winner for “Best Employment Website”, is looking for a talented Build and Release Engineer to help take our product, and specifically DevOps to the next level. This is your chance to share your work with a worldwide community of over 14M users and make your mark on the #1 employment app on Facebook – and we’re just getting started.
We're located in Sausalito, CA (just minutes from San Francisco, over the Golden Gate Bridge). Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience, including equity in an early stage startup backed by top-tier VCs (Benchmark Capital, Sutter Hill, Battery Ventures, and DAG Ventures).
We believe that work is one of the most important parts of our lives, so we also we believe in a winning culture and great benefits:
- 2012 Winner 'Best Places to Work' in the North Bay Area
- Fun, flexible, and casual environment
- Free fruit, snacks, and drinks
- Hack days and team outings (ball games, hikes, paddle boarding, etc.)
- 3 weeks of vacation and great benefits - we cover employee 100% / dependent 90%
Glassdoor's engineering team is growing, and it’s time for a dedicated Release Engineer or Senior Release Engineer to own Glassdoor's release process and tools.
You will be responsible for deploying most releases (with support from engineers as needed) and improving our process.
To succeed, you should have experience with various version control systems (perforce, svn, git, etc) and build tools (ant, maven, etc) and will need to automate as much as possible to make the release process as smooth, safe and efficient as possible.
This role will also drive improvements to ensure a repeatable and reliable process – thus you will be working closely with development, QA, and product teams and your opinion and the code you write will define how we ship our product.
As a fast-growing startup, we look for self-starters who thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment – which means wearing many hats, being able to change direction quickly, and showing an eagerness to learn new technologies as the need arises. But most importantly – we look for people that can prioritize, multi-task, and deliver – because it’s a lot more fun to get things done.
3+ years of configuration management and engineering for large scale websites, ideally supporting an Agile development process
Deep understanding of version control systems (Perforce, svn, Git, etc.), including branching and merging strategies
Experience with software build tools, ideally Maven
Experience with one or more scripting languages (we tend to use bash but are open to any language)
Understanding of, or at least interest in, continuous integration tools (TeamCity)
Experience working in Linux environments
Comfortable working late evening hours, which is when most releases and patches occur
Bonus: High attention to detail and excellent problem solving skills
Extra Bonus Points: you’re fun to be around!
Bachelors in Engineering or equivalent
