Pocket Tales is a social reading game aimed at 7-12 year old kids. As a finalist at the SXSW Accelerator we were called the “Foursquare of reading” but really, we’re just using gaming techniques to help kids have more fun and learn critical thinking skills while reading books.
Pocket Tales is a Startl/DreamIt Ventures portfolio company and is participating in this summer’s accelerator program. Because of this, it is a REQUIREMENT that all applicants be available to spend May 7th through August 6th in Philadelphia.
We’re looking for someone who is an experienced Ruby on Rails developer and expert project manager to help us enhance our current alpha product. We subscribe to the philosophy of “build half a product, not a half-assed product” and expect this developer to do the same.

If you have work experience, we want to know about it, but we place more weight on your portfolio. The best work of the best applicants is usually work they did for free for themselves.
Compensation will be roughly $10,000 + equity for the 3 summer months. This is not a final number and could go up or down.
Following the Startl/DreamiT Ventures program, we expect to renegotiate salaries to more closely match earning potential.
