Overview

We are looking for someone to manage/administrator/enhance our large-scale Ruby on Rails deployment on Amazon's Web Services system, especially their Elastic Compute Cloud. We are server software agnostic, but you will need to demonstrate familiarity with at least some flavor of servers/load balancers/databases on Linux in a Rails environment. The more experience you have, the better. Will be required to demonstrate strong programming/scripting skills and provide code/script samples. Also must be able to design and implement robust monitoring and administration tools.

Animoto.com is built on top of Amazon's revolutionary Web Services components: the Elastic Compute Cloud, Simple Storage System, and Simple Queue System. We not only use their systems, but embrace the design patterns and methodologies that are implicit in a utility computing system. We launch and terminate over 100 servers a day, dynamically scale to customer demand, and build for fault-tolerance on this platform.

We are looking for someone who can embrace this mindset and think creatively about scalable architectures. We don't need you to be intimately familiar with Amazon's system, but you do need to have solid systems chops and experience with deploying and maintaining web services on Rails.
