Overview
Senior SQL Server DBA / Architect
Responsibilities
Architect, DBA is responsible for design and lead implementation of databases in a mission-critical, 24/7 environment to support high transaction rate. The role requires significant breadth in supporting broad range of advanced issues including e-commerce, accounting, CMS, and data warehouse management/reporting. DBA Architect would be responsible for supporting database infrastructure required to operate one of the largest transaction volume web services operations. The candidate would have worked in a senior DBA position at a company that managed large OLTP & OLAP databases to service an E-commerce and Accounting application transactions.
Experience
8+ years of experience in a technical leadership role managing SQL Server databases in excess of 5TB in a 7 x 24 environment.
Direct experience in leading the database administration teams for large-scale enterprise.
Expert level knowledge of SQL Server backup and recovery process.
Expert knowledge of SQL Server database internals for tuning applications.
Hands-on experience index tuning, application and TSQL tuning.
Experience with Cluster Server, Cluster file systems.
Strong TSQL programming experience is a must, ASP.NET a must.
Looking for strong data modeling experience for relational database.
Candidate must be comfortable leading in a fast-paced team environment, and possess very good communications skills.
Can lead cross-functional discussions and project reviews.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven project management skills required.
Must work well in team environments with high productivity and have a can-do attitude. • Required to provide 24/7 Support and available on-call for all escalations.
Expertise in office-based and project management software, including Microsoft Access VBA, Microsoft Project and Visio.
Skills
Contributing to maintenance and evolution of Company's database infrastructure.
Contributing to long term planning for scalability of the database infrastructure.
Implement highly scalable database architecture to support fast business growth.
Define strategies for migration of database changes, and longer term system growth.
Lead Failure Point Analysis for database subsystem and implement resulting projects.
Lead projects and manage and mentor junior DBAs.
Lead performance analysis and tuning of the databases and applications.
Act as subject matter expert in the database area.
Primary responsibility for maintaining a 5 year plan as it relates to the database infrastructure.
Work closely with and develop all required database components for Software Engineering to ensure the database layer addresses all the requirements from a performance, functionality, security and availability perspective.
Provide performance analysis and tuning of the databases and applications
Establishes and enforces controls to ensure database integrity.
Ensure database is scalable to meet fast changing business requirements.
Ability to drive projects architecture and take primary responsible for project delivery.
Responsible for all dev, test & production databases.
Establish working relationships with software engineers, and management.
Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple engineering/business teams.
Responsible for mentoring junior staff and providing technical leadership to large-scale projects.
Education
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent.
