Overview
Appcelerator is a venture-backed startup which offers a leading open source platform for building rich Internet applications (RIAs). The Appcelerator SDK is the flagship product for the platform. It contains a set of Javascript libraries for building RIAs , a set of programming language-specific service brokers for Java, PHP, Ruby, .NET, Perl and Python, as well as a Ruby-based command-line interface (CLI) that governs all Appcelerator software distribution and project creation.
You will be working on a very cool, innovative open source platform in a growing community. You will have the opportunity to be a core developer on one or more products and work on bleeding edge technologies including AJAX, Cloud/SaaS and a variety of backend language technologies.

Responsibilities
Defining and delivering the quarterly product roadmap for applications platform
Providing the technology and architectural leadership for the applications platform
Evangelizing Appcelerator and the applications platform through the Appcelerator Developer Network and other public outlets (e.g., blogs, forums, articles, interviews etc.)
Writing very good code others can read and help maintain, fix bugs, etc
Find and develop ways to make the lives of developers using our products -- better
Have fun - like coding and working with other smart developers
Don't be a dick -- we love our community and our colleagues
Designing and developing platform integrations such as provisioning, billing, virtualization, monitoring and management
Experience
Strong software engineering / architect experience
Fast paced, startup environment
Passion for defining and building next generation web platforms
Experience in designing and building SaaS-based product architectures
Experience in designing and building SaaS-based products
Solid understanding of web architecture and related technologies
Ability to lead and manage a small team of highly capable developers
Desire to actively contribute to the platform code base
Working knowledge of Javascript
Experience using or building web analytics solutions
Experience using or building web testing solutions
Experience in designing and building commercial grade SaaS-based product architectures
Solid understanding of how to leverage offerings like Amazon’s EC2 and S3 in order to build out a next generation SaaS platform
Skills
Strong in Ruby on Rails (or Merb)
Working knowledge of one or more of the following: Java, PHP, .NET, Perl and Python
SVN or GIT
Education
Engineering or computer science degree preferred
