Overview
Are you interested in joining an up and coming music startup with over a million registered users and a revenue model?
Plug.dj is looking to augment its development team and we're looking for a senior level python developer who is familiar with most, if not all, of the stack below.
Plug.dj is an international community where people enjoy music and videos together in a real-time socially interactive environment. Our users choose from a wide array of expressive characters, join any number of virtual rooms where they can discover and share music and videos, and communicate with international cohorts using our real-time chat translation.
Problems we’re tackling
-Discovering content from outside your social circle is hard
-People are social but consuming content online is lonely
-Content licensing and distribution restrictions
-Language barriers
-Accessing a highly engaged audience
-Revenue generation for artists and content producers
Technical Challenges
-Infrastructure scaling to handle heavy user volume
-Payment processing
-Data collection and analysis
-Animation and user experience
-International chat messaging

Responsibilities
As a member of Plug.dj’s core team, you will be responsible for the following:
Development of new features
Improving and optimizing our technology stack
Scaling our system architecture
Occasional fire fighting
Building a strong development team
Experience
Proven track record for building large scale consumer backend systems.
Strongly believe in Plug.dj’s mission
Results oriented, self-motivated
Ability to take ownership and execute the task at hand
Compelled to write efficient and elegant code
Strong communicator who excels in a team environment
Passion for music
Skills
We’re focused on using cutting edge technology and currently utilize the following stack:
Python - programming language (required)
MongoDB - persistent datastore (required)
Gevent - cooperative multitasking (required)
Debian- (required)
Redis - aka memcache
ZeroMQ - Used to push messages around the push cluster
SockJS - Handles the socket connections
Flask - web framework
HAProxy - load balancing
Education
Engineering degree preferred
