Responsibilities
Participation in design, implementation, and evolution of Topsy’s search engine, graph database, data stores, and other key technologies
Collaboration with other engineers and with operations to deliver scalable, robust, and high-performance systems
Solution of hard problems
Experience
Practical experience with distributed computing and clustering architecture
Practical experience with database design
Knowledge of entire C++ language and library
Perl, Python, or Ruby experience
Experience with any assembly language
Linux kernel knowledge
Ability to juggle
Skills
5+ years experience writing C/C++
5+ years experience developing on Unix
Practical experience with C/C++ threading
Practical experience with Unix filesystems, storage media and networking
Ability to work alone and in small teams to deliver critical infrastructure
Tendency to take segfaults personally
