We started Tapulous before the App Store even launched. Convinced that the iPhone marks a seismic shift in mobile connectivity, we wanted to be one of the very first companies to be built in this new space. So far, well over ten million unique users have come to enjoy our portfolio of games and apps. Our flagship, the wildly successful Tap Tap Revenge rhythm game, is on one out of every three iPhones and iPod touches, making it the most popular game on the App Store. We are backed by a high-profile group of angel investors including the late Prof. Rajeev Motwani and Andreas Bechtolsheim (original investors/advisors in Google), Khosla Ventures, Marc Benioff, Aydin Senkut and Jeff Clavier. We are a small (less than 20), profitable company, and we're working hard to build the leading music-based social gaming network on the iPhone and, in the future, other next generation mobile devices
Our business is expanding and we need a world-class Senior iPhone Engineer to complement the team. You will be responsible for delivering new features and bug fixes in our existing titles, as well as large components of entirely new titles. You will work side-by-side with a team of seasoned engineers with a combined 25 years of experience at Apple. We pride ourselves on the quality of our products, both in terms of delivering a delightful user experience, as well as the professionalism of the code that builds that end-user experience.
You’ll enjoy significant leadership in identifying requirements and designing solutions, collaborating with the rest of the design and engineering team.
You will be joining a fun, hardworking, and highly motivated engineering team that prides itself on a scrappy, can-do attitude. We enjoy working on big new products and features, but also take pleasure in polishing and fixing bugs in existing software.
Participating in our weekly process, loosely based on Scrum methodology, which includes setting goals, working towards completing them, keeping the team apprised of your progress, and showing off what you’ve accomplished at week’s end
Working on features in our iPhone games and applications, which could include any number of cool things to do with location, social networks (ours and 3rd party networks like Twitter and Facebook), music & sound, incorporation of user-generated content, tying our client code to critical server-side functionality, and building socially connected games that take full adventage of the rich iPhone SDK API
Proactively working to architect new, and refactor existing, code to allow for maintainability, extensibility and re-useability
Solid Objective-C skills, ideally gained through several years of commercial Cocoa experience (Mac OS X and/or iPhone)
Excited about working in a fast-moving, high-profile start-up. You’ll be writing code that will ship within weeks to millions of people. At times, this means there are less predictable work hours, and problems that require more inventiveness to make up for somewhat fewer resources. If you have Macgyver-like tendencies, we’ll put them to good use.
Below are nice to have (not necessary):
Game development experience
OpenGL, CoreGraphics, and/or CoreAudio experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience (preferred)
