You need to be an experienced, creative professional who is driven by the challenge of solving unique, difficult problems in a compressed timeframe. You never lose sight of the requirements of the business or our traveler experience. You want to play a crucial role in the creation of a travel service that will eventually be used by everyone who travels.

Description
Want to create an application like no other? Our team of highly experienced and super creative engineers has built an application unlike any that have come before it in the online travel space. It is now time for TripIt to take it to the next level, and to do that, we need you. You are the type of engineer that is driven by the challenge of solving unique, difficult technical problems in a compressed timeframe while keeping in mind both the requirements of the business and the user experience.
Responsibilities
This position will have you working on TripIt's mobile applications, initially focusing on the iPhone, Blackberry, and Google Android platforms. You must be passionate about developing new technologies and solving difficult technical problems. You should have a good sense of product design, have solid development habits (e.g., unit testing, technical design documentation, etc.), have good experience with backend web technologies. You should be comfortable leading a team of developers and mentoring others. Most importantly, you should not be afraid to dive into new and unfamiliar technologies. Programming experience with iPhones, Blackberries, or J2ME is a strong plus, but it is not required.
Experience
At least 7 years of prior software development experience at least 3 of which as a mobile applications developer
Strong understanding of web and web-related technologies
Strong experience with object-oriented programming in Java, Python, Ruby, or Objective-C
Familiarity with XML and XML Schema
Solid development habits and practices
Natural problem-solver and troubleshooter
Comfortable working in a GNU Linux/Unix environment
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Prior team leadership experience a plus
