Overview
We’re looking for a full-time person who can build and architect scalable, optimized web systems that demand continuous iteration. You need to be experienced with Ruby on Rails, JavaScript / jQuery, Amazon Web Services, and have excellent knowledge of object-oriented design, analysis, and programming. Because our team is small and the projects varied, you need to be a jack-of-all-trades who can quickly catch on to new technologies. This is a very strategic position, one that will eventually grow into a leadership role, building and leading a team of engineers. Experience
3 – 5+ years hands-on development experience
Strong knowledge of the Ruby language, design principles and patterns
Experience building web applications all the way down the stack from the front-end down to the metal, preferably on Amazon Web Services
Experience with web front-end technologies and techniques including: JavaScript, HTML/CSS, jQuery
A self-starter with a positive attitude and willingness to drive projects to completion in a fast moving environment
Experience with codecs and file transcoding is a plus
Experience with and passion for UI design is a plus
Experience with high volume transaction processing desirable
Solid experience with database / search technologies, such as MySQL, Sphinx highly desirable
Previous experience helping to transition a platform from PHP to RoR highly desirable
1-3+ years in an Architect/Team Lead role highly desirable
Experience working with, and contributing to, open source software projects is a plus
Education
B.S. in Computer Science or other quantitative field
