Senior Software Engineer

Overview
UQ Inc is an early stage, stealthy startup based in San Francisco. We’re not publicly saying much at the moment, but we can say that we’re building a platform to enable children, parents and educators to interact online. We have a solid seed round of funding and are looking for a top notch software engineer to join the team.

You will be working with the VP of Engineering and game developers to build out the main web application and web services to enable the rest of the platform
Responsibilities
Work with UX and game designers to define and build the main application website (Ruby on Rails)
Build out web services which connect games on a variety of platforms to the main application
Develop the core code for the platform
Build and maintain solid unit and integration tests which provide good coverage of the site and services
Ensure that the platform is robust and scales well
Experience
5+ years of solid software development experience (game development a plus).
Experience with Postgres and Ruby on Rails (or the ability to learn quickly!).
Experience with UNIX systems.
Familiarity with HTTP protocol and REST architecture.
Experience with Heroku a plus
Recent experience building good looking, performant websites (java/coffe-script, SCSS)
Experience with modern bug tracking and version control systems.
Experience scaling data-intensive applications with high concurrent-user load.
Experience with Unity3D a plus
Education
B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
