Who are we looking for?

As a Senior Software Engineer in Analytics you will innovate on a new analytics platform with a small, talented team of engineers to create and advance a compelling differentiator for our Social Media products. You will solve challenging problems creating and operationalizing a next generation web-scale analytics framework while bringing a purpose-driven, detail-oriented approach to develop on a Service-Oriented Architecture. You will bring passion and conviction to providing accurate and precise analytics from source to user.

Working in an Agile environment, you will collaborate daily with product managers, peer software engineers, technical writers, and QA engineers.

Working closely with engineering peers and product management, you will:
Assess requirements and estimate time and resources to deliver product requests
Design, implement, and document new APIs and services in an SOA fashion
Investigate, integrate, and create new big data technologies
Build scalable, extensible, and repeatable analytics processes
Create and instrument new code patterns and conventions to collect and process data
Work with scientists to author and implement original analytics models
Work with operations to tune and deploy new analytics systems
Experience
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field 5 years of experience in software development or engineering
Strong knowledge of design patterns, code organization and packaging
Strong knowledge of J2EE (EJB, Servlets, JSP, XML, JDBC)
Interest and experience in building web-scale, big data solutions
Experience with a relational database systems and proficiency in SQL
Familiarity with Unix, Windows, JVM, web and application servers
Strong skills in Java development experience, preferably in large scale Web environments
Team player with excellent communication and organizational skills
Self-starter that is results focused with the ability to work independently and in teams
Proven track record of producing high quality software against plans and schedules that are being met consistently
HIGHLY DESIRED EXPERIENCE IN ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
Experience with Spring, Tapestry 5, REST frameworks
Experience with Hadoop family of projects (HDFS, MapReduce, HBase, Zookeeper)
Proficient with a scripting language (bash, Perl, Python, etc.)
Proven track record of identifying and championing new technologies that enhance the software quality, developer productivity
