Overview
THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced Unix Systems Engineer to continue to build out and enhance the Central Desktop multi-tenant SaaS platform.

Responsibilities
DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
Build / Enhance our FreeBSD server computing environment with new systems
and processes that scale.
Optimize the server computing environment, remove bottlenecks, research
performance enhancements.
Work with all parts of our stack - Operating Systems, Web Servers,
Application Servers, Databases, Application Code.
Suggest improved ways of doing things we're doing today. If you have a
better solution, we want to hear it.
Automate/script/document everything.
Solve the tough problems that nobody else can.
Monitor the stack for signs of impending issues. Solve issues before
they become problems.
Upgrade/maintain our software so we can stay performant and secure.
Experience
REQUIRED SKILLS
Proven track record administering Unix servers.
Strong knowledge of Linux or FreeBSD - 5+ yrs.
Strong knowledge of Networking fundamentals - IP, DHCP, DNS, routing,
cabling.
Excellent troubleshooting skills.
Working knowledge of PHP a plus.
Knowledge of Linux/BSD/Unix/Mac/Windows
Solid communication skills both verbal and written.
Entrepreneurial drive.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strongly familiar with the world of Open Source software.
Experience with Enterprise IP telephony a plus.
Experience building/supporting cloud infrastructure or web applications.
Recent experience with FreeBSD, Apache, PostgreSQL, ActiveMQ, Lucene,
Solr, ZFS, distributed file systems a plus.
Strong shell scripting skills.
EXPECTED BACKGROUND
Bachelor's degree or equivalent Technical certifications and experience.
5+ years proven track record building and enhancing Unix networks.
Ability to work with a small, agile, high-energy team.
