Overview
chumby industries is a fast-growing, San Diego-based, 30-person, venture backed software company that delivers personalized multimedia streams of internet content to connected consumer electronics devices from top OEMs, like Sony and Best Buy. chumby also designs and sells its own unique connected devices. Devices "powered by chumby" include clock radios, digital photo frames, connected interactive televisions and set-top boxes, as well as completely new and unique devices, like the new Sony dash. chumby is presently serving over 1B apps a month to these devices, and this number is expected to exceed 4B per month by the end of the year. chumby makes money from margin on the devices it sells; from development and royalty payments from its OEM partners; and from targeted commercial applications and messages that it delivers to end-users. The company has a strong revenue pipeline and large established OEM partners.

Responsibilities
We are currently looking for a Senior Systems/Network Administrator with:
6 or more years experience in a professional IT Ops environment including experience with a 24x7 Data Center
Experience with:
Strong Linux background
Strong Perl, Shell Scripting abilities and basic PHP knowledge
Strong Apache Web Server
MySQL Database
Ruby on Rails Web Apps in a SaaS Environment (helpful)
SAN/NAS,
TCP/IP,
DHCP,
LAN/WAN,
SMTP,
DNS,
V-LAN,
Firewall/IDS,
Foundry Switches,
VPN
Experience
Strong knowledge of network & internet security, network intrusion prevention, data privacy policy, authentication & encryption
Expert level experience in routing, switching, and complex firewalls
IP network troubleshooting experience
Experience with Cisco and/or Foundry routers and switches required.
Monitor network capacity and recommend required actions
Proficient with Load Balancing technologies, devices and configurations.
Ability to work with Redhat,Ubuntu Distributions.
Ability to interface with Network vendors to ensure best service and price
Ability to work with a team of engineers and independently as well
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
BS or above in CS or MIS preferred
