Senior or Principal Motor Control Engineer (Redwood City, CA)

Overview
Atieva is a VC funded Silicon Valley startup company that develops advanced electric powertrains for electric vehicles. We are looking for an experienced motor control engineer to lead the development and commercialization of advanced motor controllers for electric vehicles.
Responsibilities
Architect and develop AC motor control algorithm and system software
Responsible for vehicle level control algorithm and software development
Responsible for the integration and calibration of motor controllers and electric motors
Contribute to the development of motor controller hardware and test tools
Contribute to other aspects of firmware engineering, system integration and vehicle engineering
Project management, and vendor and customer interaction
Experience
Over 15 years of industry and research experience in digital motor control and firmware development
Solid experience in AC motor vector control and high performance applications
Solid experience in digital control implementation and real-time operating systems
Solid experience in induction motors, PMAC motors and power electronic converters
Solid experience in DSP, FPGA, embedded hardware and sensors
Solid experience in dynamometers, motor test equipment and motor test procedures
Experienced in automotive electronics hardware, networking, and quality and safety requirements
Experienced in product development, IP development, and project management
Skills
Solid understanding of electric motors, power electronics, and classical and modern control theory
Strong skills in digital signal processing, digital control, control system analysis and synthesis
Strong skills in C programming and simulation tools such as Matlab and Simulink
Familiar with testing tools such as power analyzers and LabView data acquisition tools
Familiar with vehicle modeling, vehicle dynamics and vehicle control
Familiar with heat transfer and thermal management of electric motors and power electronics
Familiar with the debugging of power electronic hardware and control electronic hardware
Familiar with FPGA logic programming and synthesis
Familiar with automotive software quality control and safety processes
Strong project management and communication skills
Education
BSEE min, MSEE or PhD preferred in the areas of motor drives, control systems or electric machines
