Social Media Intern

Overview
ClassWish.org, a new nonprofit, offers an
unusually effective opportunity to improve education for tens of
millions of schoolchildren. On our site, teachers create Wish Lists
for supplies they need. Teacher Wish Lists let visitors see exactly
what’s needed and how their tax-deductible contributions can help. On
the Board of Advisors are, among many others, Scott Cutler, EVP,
NYSE-Euronext, Esther Dyson, investor and philanthropist,
Laurie Coots, CMO, TBWA (Apples marketing agency)...

We are looking for a Social Media Intern to join our team. The program
is typically 3-6 months, and can be renewed for a second term as
approved by the CEO. Student interns are welcome – this is an
excellent way to augment a business curriculum. We can work with you
to get class credit. This role is designed to be flexible so you can
work part-time or full-time, as best fits your school schedule. Our
preference is for 20+ hours per week.

Responsibilities
Identify and recommend strategic partnership opportunities and
promotional programming through social media
Recommend overall strategy and tactic for co-branded partnerships and promotions
Monitoring the social web
Guerilla marketing program planning and execution
Event planning and execution
Online community building
Direct email marketing
Managing the organization's blog
A rich network of personal and professional contacts to local and national partners
Experience
Experienced in setting up and managing domains for campaigns or social media sites/profiles (Managing DNS records, Subdomains, A-Records, etc.)
Knowledgeable with Google Analytics, Google Webmaster Tools and Google Website Optimizer
Ability to effectively communicate numerical data, both verbally and in writing
Exceptional experience in designing and building viral campaigns on twitter and facebook pages. (Experience with facebook apps like Wildfire a plus!).
Proficient in anything social media: Flickr, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Delicious, Digg, Tumblr, etc.
Up to date with all recent social media technology and news
Blogging experience (Wordpress a strong plus)
Skills
Ability to work independently; self-starter with strong initiative
Creative, dedicated and fun
Compensation
unpaid
