Reporting to the CTO, the Software Architect will be responsible for making high-level design choices and directing the design of software. The Software Architect will turn new ideas into scalable and high performing software solutions. This is a leadership position responsible for championing activities that foster open, creative and cohesive team efforts. This position will conduct technical design and architecture reviews as well as provides guidance in resolving key software design issues.

Responsibilities
Choose a highly scalable database sharding/clustering strategy and implement it
Develop a site-wide integrated search capacity operating on terabytes of data
Help define and design our entire software stack
Design and deliver web features that are distributed, latency tolerant, and highly available
Oversee all application designs, test plans, and rollout strategies
Evaluate proprietary, open source, and home grown solutions
Work with cloud services and storage in a nimble start-up like fashion
Experience
Experience building production high-load web environments
5 years in a project or technical leadership role
Experience with non-relational NoSQL document oriented data stores, simpleDB BigTable etc..
· Experience with cloud computing platforms
Skills
Hadoop, solr, NoSql databases,
Machine Learning
Search Engine design
Bayesian Algebra
Education
BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or similar
Compensation
Depends on Experience, equity possible.
