Aspera Labs is a team of scientists and engineers within the Aspera team dedicated to understanding and developing solutions for the basic problems associated with big data. Big data systems R&D at Aspera focuses on developing fundamental approaches to manage, store, transport and analysis of high volume of raw data and associated metadata. The team collaborates with academia, Aspera technology partners, and customers to carry out cutting-edge research that advances the state of the art. It also collaborate hand-by-hand with Aspera's engineering team to develop new product initiatives and participate in the software development life-cycle.
Assist in prototyping and developing the infinitely-scalable, distributed data store associated with the "big data" and supporting Aspera's core transfer platforms.
Assist in R&D in distributed and scalable systems, including high availability clustering, high-performance partitioning and processing of large volume of hierarchical data.
Assist in the research, development and testing of ultra high-speed data transport platforms. Participate in developing client and server components for Aspera's high performance data transfer suite, including internal libraries, tools and UI components.
Assist in the development and performance benchmarking of scalable transfer appliance solutions using Aspera's core transport technology.
Strong programming and debugging skills in C/C++ (knowledge of Java a plus).
Strong knowledge of OS, distributed systems and databases (NoSQL or relational).
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking principles, including congestion avoidance and throughput analysis
Strong scripting skills in Ruby or related languages for tools and testing development a plus
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent understanding of Computer Science fundamentals as demonstrated through a superior academic record
B.Sc. or greater in Computer Science/Engineering or related discipline (MSc or PhD preferred)
