Applicants should also be willing to work in downtown San Francisco, as we are planning to move our office there from the South Bay in a few months.

- Previous startup experience
- Open source and personal projects
- Experience with Erlang, eJabberd, Lucene, Amazon AWS, XMPP, distributed key-value/nosql storages (CouchDB, HBase or Project Voldemort), persistent/distributed queues (Thrift/RabbitMQ)

Responsibilities
Building backend services primarily in Python
Designing and optimizing software with massive scalability and efficiency in mind.
Extremely comfortable developing and managing services in Linux
Experience
2+ years of professional experience building large scale data processing
Skills
Python mastery
Expert knowledge of MySQL (stored procedures, optimizing queries and indices, replication & backup)
Lucene experience
Hadoop/Map-Reduce experience
knowledge of the XMPP protocol
Education
BS in Computer Science or related field
