DSPS Divisions currently use 23 Microsoft Access 2003 applictions. These applications use either Microsoft Access or Oracle as their backend databases. Network security is the typical method for securing these applications. In general, each application serves less than five customers. Reports are written in Microsoft Access. In a few applications Microsoft Word documents are generated. The skills needed to support these applications include: Access VBA programming, import/export of data from Oracle databases using Linked tables, Usage of "pass-through queries", ODBC connections, and Microsoft Access Datase compact and compare.
The contract position would perform daily mainenance and support of these applications. The position may be asked to help with converstion of the application to Office 2010 or conversion to a new platform, as determined by the strategic analysis that will be performed on these applications during FY13. The contractor may also be asked to mentor existing state staff in the support of these applicaitons.
In addition, this position designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements software programming applications, including software infrastructure and development tools. Participates in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, independently performs a variety of complicated tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
