CareerEagle (www.careereagle.com) was started by a Harvard Business School and Harvard Kennedy School alum with the goal of helping young people make better career decisions. CareerEagle offers short job videos to help people select careers and decide what they want to do with their lives.
The company is engaging in educational software sales to high schools and will soon pursue much larger markets. It just completed a pilot with one of the largest schools in the San Francisco Unified School District, Galileo. It was so successful that in the fall the pilot is getting expanded to 20+ schools! (The results were replicated in another pilot at a charter school.)
Of the students who have gone through the pilot, 93% say they would recommend it to a friend. 50% of the students who didn't know what they wanted to do prior to using the service knew what they wanted to do after using CareerEagle. 68% of students said they preferred CareerEagle over career software Kuder, for which the school district just paid $800k. The company gives away its services to schools that can't afford it. We are in diligence with a number of top education seed funds and expect to be oversubscribed.
Your Job:
Come on board as a programmer to help us build v2 of the site. We have a minimum viable product that served to demonstrate that the concept works and was sufficient to get us into 20+ schools in the fall. But it's not scalable and the coding is weak. We're looking for a programmer - ideally in Rails - who can come on board, work with our design firm and play the lead role in building the next generation of the site.
The right candidate will receive both a substantial chunk of equity as well as pay, healthcare, etc. We're looking for a team member who can eventually lead the tech team. (It's ok if you're young. We believe good people will learn and grow into the role.)
