Solutions Architect / Sales Engineer

The Sales Engineer/Solutions Architect at Tervela actively drives and manages the technology evaluation phase of the sales process, working as a key technical advisor and advocate for our products. In order to be successful in this role, the SE must be able to communicate the value of our products to C-level executives as well as developers and architects. The SE also helps shape the product and direction of the company by communicating market needs to the rest of the organization.

As a Sales Engineer, your leadership will be highly visible as you work with the leadership team, Product Management and Engineering to help drive the success of the company and our customers.


Work authorization:

Applicants, who currently have legal work authorization in the U.S. and who do not now and will not require sponsorship of a U.S. employer in order to have valid work authorization, are preferred.
Responsibilities
Articulate and educate on technical and architectural concepts to a variety of audiences, including developers, architects, IT operations professionals, and senior IT management
Perform technical discovery with customer prospects and quickly architect/build proposed solutions using Tervela products
Lead the proof-of-concept’s (POCs) with prospective and existing customers, by demonstrating product features, running functional and performance tests and, if necessary, integrating the Tervela products within the customer environment through various adapters and/or wrapper APIs.
Sell the value of Tervela products using multiple formats/channels, including phone, presentation, and live/online product demonstrations
Collect feedback from the field, synthesize, analyze and channel to Product Management and Engineering for product roadmap
Skills
Strong analytical & problem solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience responding to functional & technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
Experience with ESBs, Databases, DWs, Hadoop or other NOSQL stores is a plus
Experience with enterprise middleware technologies and application integration is a plus
Computer Science or related education required (BS required, MS a plus)
Experience with high-performance computing is desirable.
Past software development experience with C/C++, C# and/or Java, socket, multithreading.
Good understanding of networking concepts: TCP/UDP/IP, routing, switching, etc
