Sr. Manager of Business Development

at Practice Fusion in San Francisco, CA   —   Jul 18, 2014   |  
Overview
The individual in this position will develop and execute on high-priority strategic initiatives for Practice Fusion’s fast-growing business in the dynamic healthcare IT sector. The position will require the individual to assess potential opportunities for Practice Fusion, formulate execution plans, reach out to relevant partners, articulate a compelling value proposition, and negotiate and close revenue-generating contracts. The Sr. Manager will play a particularly active role in exploring and defining new business opportunities for Practice Fusion – new channels, partnership opportunities etc – and hence will require an analytical mindset, polished communication/presentation skills, and the ability to build and maintain productive internal and external relationships. In addition, the individual will mentor / coach junior members of the Business Development team, leading ad hoc teams formed to pursue particular high-priority initiatives.

The Sr. Manager of Business Development reports to the Sr. Director of Business Development and works closely with the sales, marketing, customer engagement, product, engineering and finance leads to successfully implement, launch and maintain partnerships and new business lines.

Responsibilities
The Sr. Manager of Business Development has two main responsibilities
Strategy :
Contribute to the development of new business strategy based on market-related factors, business and client needs
Seek out business development opportunities based on near-term and long-term company strategy
Conduct market research and diligence on new business opportunities to identify and prioritize potential strategic partnerships or acquisition targets
Launch new businesses within Practice Fusion, as appropriate
2. Partnership execution:
Identify areas of interest per PF’s Strategic Plan, prioritize opportunities for pursuit
Formulate plan of attack with “lean,” experimental mindset – how quickly can we test our assumptions and establish a proof of concept (or move on to other opportunities)
Develop partnership strategy, lead a team to find, negotiate and execute on partnerships
Pivot and define new strategy for partners, as needed
Structure and negotiate contract terms (often revenue-generating) with PF partners
Serve as the primary liaison between partners and PF
Experience
Qualifications:
Analytical mindset / training with the ability to quickly and effectively frame opportunities in light of PF’s strategic objectives
Experience leading strategic initiatives and small teams to create and drive value via partnerships
Exhibit a knack for understanding details of partnership risks/rewards, evaluating opportunities, prioritizing and developing creative business ventures and solutions
Effective negotiator who is able to maximize value while reaching agreements efficiently and amicably
Long-term financial planning and modeling experience to assist with business planning
Experience coaching / developing high-potential junior talent
Previous exposure to healthcare sector very helpful, but not an absolute requirement
Skills

BS/BA degree required
