We are seeking a Sr. Production Artist who will oversee all aspects of print projects from execution to print release. Responsibilities include providing direction to print team, scheduling and ensuring deadlines are met. Quality check and preflight of all production mechanicals and associated linked graphics prior to final print release. Confirm accuracy of all file settings. Requires excellent communication and technical problem-solving skills. Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software. This position requires strong attention to detail, moderate design/typography skills.
Liaise with agency’s internal teams; Account managers, project managers, creative, interactive, and print specialist throughout production process, as well as collaborating with external agencies.
This position may start as part time, or as freelance/consultant capacity to start.
Detailed Position Responsibilities:
Set priorities and allocates resources throughout the execution & production process
Build electronic mechanical files for print production according to supplied specifications
Ability to create high quality CMYK or RGB images. Understand dot gain, color separations, trapping, Pantone to CMYK conversions, imposition work and photo retouching
Proficient Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat), and QuarkXPress with extensive knowledge of pre-press production and printing processes (digital, offset, flexography, silk screening and rotogravure)
Collaborates with Printer and Project Managers to maintain budgets and tight deadlines.
Manage various print projects including primary and secondary packaging, signage, and POP materials
Good understanding of how to troubleshoot problem art files
QC check/preflight all production mechanicals and associated linked graphics prior to final print release
Confirm accuracy of all file settings including color, image resolution, and output settings
Correct file errors and/or inconsistencies prior to final print production release, including: Typesetting revisions, re-sizing artwork, photo retouching, correct vector artwork, image color correction and adjustments, page sequence/imposition revisions
Ability to accept feedback and direction from Agencies, Supervisor, and Marketing team and incorporate changes into production design
Associates degree or equivalent experience
Minimum 6 years production management and design experience
Must be proficient in all current major desktop publishing software and technologies
Candidates will be asked to present a portfolio with sufficient samples related to this specific role
Excellent organizational skills, with an ability to multitask and prioritize projects based on tight deadlines, with the ability to communicate effectively
Knowledge of companies brand with the ability to manage brands according to guidelines
Excellent command of graphic design principles, practices, formats, typography, printing, and layout
Experience working with various substrates such as OPS, PET-G, PVC, etc.
Good understanding of the conversion issues present when using applications across the Mac and Windows platforms
Possess a clear understanding of computer networks, both new and existing server technologies
Ideal Candidates Would Also Have:
Familiarity with various types of equipment/software used in the production process, including: Inkjet, laser printers, and RIPs, FTP software, scanners
Operate in either Macintosh or Windows platform and UNIX based platform
