Virtual Instruments is a late stage startup with a rapidly growing customer base. We are seeking an experienced and versatile Sr. System Test Engineer to lead the validation of a new hardware appliance used for data center monitoring. The engineer will be responsible for working with hardware and software engineers to define and execute system test plans. Additional responsibilities include identifying and developing appropriate test tools, and setting up test environments. Qualified candidates will also troubleshoot issues and should be experienced with automation tools. Good working knowledge of NAS protocols and networking are a plus.
Establish a process for validating new hardware systems.
Setup an environment for testing and debugging a hardware appliance in the NAS space.
Define, develop, and run stress and performance tests using automated and directed tests.
Integrate test equipment into the hardware validation process.
Troubleshoot and debug test results.
Work with the operations team to qualify and release systems based on production schedules.
3+ years of experience writing and executing QA test plans for hardware systems.
Hands-on experience with performance and stress testing of hardware systems, including the use of test frameworks combined with scripting (Python).
Ability to develop and execute test procedures to verify functionality against specs and product requirements.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of networking protocols.
Knowledge of storage protocols (NAS) is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
