Structural Packaging Designer

The Candidate
You love packaging. You find yourself judging packages as you wander through stores, thinking you could have done it better. You know the properties of packaging materials and love finding new ways to use them effectively. You’ve mastered designing 2D folding carton die lines as well as 3D vac forms. You can generate a structural rendering for review then turn around and make a physical mockup. You really want to work for Quirky.
Job Responsibilities
Design, develop and produce primary packaging structures that balance innovation and quality with feasibility and cost-effectiveness
Evaluate packaging materials, processes and costs with team members internally and overseas
Render structural concepts in 3D
Develop physical package prototypes
Develop packaging specs and BOMs for mass production
Job Qualifications
Highly skilled at designing packaging structures made from a wide variety of paper and formed materials, using the latest software and technologies
Advanced knowledge of folding cartons and vacuum forming
Advanced knowledge of print production, packaging materials and processes
Advanced knowledge of 3D CAD software (your choice)
Advanced knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop (our choice)
Detail-oriented, great communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Ability and eagerness to crank out really cool shit in a short period of time
