Responsibilities
As soon as you hit the ground at Bright, we will be relying on your expertise to…
Partner closely with engineering groups to design, build, and maintain systems
Develop innovative solutions to scalability issues using cloud computing
Be available and able to respond in a timely fashion to emergencies, such as system outages – even if it is after traditional work hours
Write and update internal documentation of our systems and processes as well as document systems designs, record active configuration, and write operational run books
Proactively analyze system-wide performance metrics in support of capacity planning
Create scripts to monitor and automate processes
Experience
Demonstrable knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, security, storage, SQL databases, and memcached
Networking and network configuration experience
User authentication / permissions management
Experience using Chef as a system configuration tool
Detailed knowledge and experience in UNIX/Linux systems and associated shell scripting (Perl, sh, csh)
Familiarity with data stores such as CouchDB or Solr
Experience working with ElasticSearch clusters, Percona clusters, job queues, AMQP, Redis, and nagios for alerting.
