System and Network Operations Engineer -- help scale a growing startup!

Overview
Syncplicity is looking for an experienced system and network administrator to set up, manage, and maintain its diverse cloud infrastructure. As a net-ops expert on our team, Syncplicity backend’s availability, security, uptime, and efficiency will be in your hands. You’ll also work closely with the engineering team to ensure Syncplicity’s architecture is compliant with your requirements and the model you’ve designed for our scalable backend.

Candidates should be closely familiar with Win2k8 and Linux, network configuration and setup, and the s/w and h/w necessary to build out lean and mean servers and server clusters. This is currently a part-time position with a future full-time opportunity.
Responsibilities
Configuring, maintaining, and examining various monitoring services
Identifying, implementing, and executing a patch/update strategy for Win/Linux servers
Configuring, deploying, and scaling Linux-based EC2 instances
Configuring and provisioning new Windows servers and Windows-server based software
Monitoring the uptime of Syncplicity’s infrastructure and being available in case of emergency 24/7
Performing regular maintenance across Syncplicity’s backend: backups, upgrades, etc.
Experience
Windows Server 2008 and Linux administration proficiency
Network administration proficiency: firewalls, load balancers, port forwarding, NAT/VPN, etc.
Knowledge of IIS 6/7 administration, including setting up, configuring, and updating web apps
Working knowledge of hardware commonly used in servers and server environments
Basic SQL Server management experience, including backups and performance monitoring
Preferred: Past experiencing scaling complex systems to hundreds of thousands of users
Preferred: Familiarity with the EC2/S3 environment
Preferred: Additional SQL Server administration experience, including indexing and table statistics reconstructions
