About Sustainable Silicon Valley (SSV):
SSV is leading Silicon Valley to a more sustainable future through collaboration with local government agencies, businesses, and community organizations to identify and address these highest-priority environmental issues. We do this by engaging prominent Valley organizations to proactively work toward self-imposed goals of reducing regional CO2 emissions and water use – and helping them translate those goals into measurable results.)

POSITION: Systems Administrator
Time Commitment: 3-6 months; 10-15 hrs/week
Reports to: IT Lead

About the position:
Working under the supervision of the Information Technology Lead or Director of Operations, the IT Specialist handles all aspects of supporting all aspects of IT needs for a staff of volunteers within Sustainable Silicon Valley. This is a volunteer position. The ideal candidate should commit a minimum of 10-15 hours per week working at the SSV office location. It is assumed that the candidate will have his/her own laptop and communications tools.

Most importantly, you will be helping the organization work towards its vision of a sustainable region, a thriving economy, a healthy environment and socially equitable community.
Responsibilities
Primary Skills and Responsibilities:
Manage existing IT systems
Manage and Support Jira and Confluence collaboration tools
Solid knowledge of server environments acquired though 1+ years of administration, particularly Linux and Windows 2008
Troubleshoot IT systems when there is an issue
Experience troubleshooting TCP/IP networking and LAN/WAN internetworking
Familiarity with systems maintenance, backup, patching procedures and configuration management
Prepare, maintain and keep updated IT procedures and documentation related to our processes and platforms operation
Work closely with Team Leads to ensure that current infrastructure and tools meet the needs of the departments
Skills
Non-technical skills
Strong interpersonal skills, mature judgment, and diplomacy required to interact effectively with a broad spectrum of people, both individually and in groups
Affinity for problem solving and taking initiative
Ability to work under deadlines, and with limited resources
