Responsibilities
We are looking for a solid systems engineer to be a part of our growing technical operations team. Systems Engineers are responsible for optimizing the performance and reliability status of rapidly evolving systems. In this role, you will be responsible for working with the Development and Architecture teams to maintain and evolve ideeli's technical infrastructure. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving our uptime record and performance, monitoring network health, and handling both planned and unplanned events.
The ideal candidate has breadth and depth of technical experience earned managing substantial production web systems.
Responsibilities
Five (5) plus years of Linux/UNIX server administration experience in a production environment
Proven technical troubleshooting and performance tuning experience
Knowledge of shell scripting languages, including Ruby, Perl, and Python
Comfortable with networking technologies including DNS, TCP/IP, SSL, DHCP and Load Balancing
Familiarity with mySQL
Experience with source code management systems (svn, git, etc)
Although our system is already built, previous experience building a system is a huge plus
Experience with a variety of monitoring and alerting systems
Able to work in an environment at a fast pace and with changing priorities
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering discipline preferred
