Technical Investigation Specialist (Product Team)

Overview
AppNexus is seeking a Technical Investigation Specialist with a strong background in software development and problem solving to play a key role in AppNexus' technical investigation process. The Technical Investigation Specialist will work closely with our engineering, support, and services teams to conduct 3rd tier technical investigations into perceived issues within our platform. This role provides a significant amount of exposure to our full technology stack along with a great opportunity to interface with many of the teams across AppNexus' organization.

If you are an engineer with a passion for digging into the nuts and bolts of intricate systems that enjoys working within a highly collaborative team environment, this role may be perfect for you. It will provide you the opportunity to untangle challenging defects within our highly complex advertising technology platform that processes over 10 Billion ads generating over 10TB of data every single day.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
Work across all engineering teams to validate platform issues and identify their root causes
Develop short-term workarounds for escalated issues that permit our platform to function until permanent solutions can be applied
Collaborate with members of the product escalation team to assist in the design of permanent technical solutions for escalated issues
Serve as the primary point person and expert for both our business and engineering teams on owned investigations
Experience
Very strong technical skills, degree in Computer Science preferred
Previous technical support experience is a plus
Passion for digging into the low-level details of complex software systems, particularly through reading source code (past C, PHP, and SQL exposure is a plus)
Outstanding debugging skills and ability to reproduce error conditions efficiently
Experience in understanding complex technical systems and designing tactical solutions to keep them operating despite unresolved defects
Successful track record of owning multiple work streams simultaneously in the face of rapidly changing priorities
Excellent intraoffice communication skills (both verbal and written)
Ability to work with a high degree of independence
