Engineers at BuyWithMe collaborate with other disciplines on product development from conception through implementation. Build, deploy, and maintain scalable, re-usable software for the front-end of BuyWithMe’s social buying platform
Measure and optimize the performance of new and existing websites
Participate in departmental code reviews, discussions, and refactoring exercises
Collaborate with QA to test user-interfaces and ensure cross-browser compatibility
Build software you’re proud of and support them, even after they’re has been released
Stay in tune with emerging and relevant technologies
Participate in departmental recruitment efforts
Effectively communicate with your colleagues, both technical and non-technical
An understanding of the importance of separating content from presentation
2+ years recent experience as a professional ui engineer or front-end developer working on high-traffic, high-availability websites
Expertise writing purely semantic and valid XHTML
Expertise applying styling to websites using CSS
Experience cutting and translating mocks into functional XHTML/CSS
Experience building cross-browser compatible websites
Experience optimizing the performance of website front-ends
A strong design sense and understanding of usability concerns
Experience with at least one server-side technology such as Ruby, Python, PHP, or JSP
Experience with object-oriented programming or familiarity with object-oriented concepts
Experience building software collaboratively using a distributed revision control system such as Git, SVN, or Mercurial
Experience integrating with third-parties/APIs
• B.Sc or M.Sc degree in Computer Science or related field
