VP Business Development

at Shindig in New York, NY   —   Apr 16, 2014   |
Overview
Ground floor opportunity for driven, creative, social media aware, charismatic business maker who can help us spearhead adoption of our transformative video chat technology. Our paradigm shifting video chat technology enables never before possible types of online interactions including large scale video chat events. Emerging from a year of intense development we are now poised for launch and are seeking a multi-talented business maker to join our seasoned team (that has built substantial media and Internet companies in the past). You will be tasked with pioneering deals and partnerships with best of breed entities and high profile brands in the large number of business verticals to which our technology applies.

Our ideal candidate would be someone who has broad knowledge of Internet marketing and the gamut of web business models; The candidate will use this knowledge to position our technology and best enhance or supplement third parties' existing web strategies. They should have experience developing strategic relationships with sophisticated online partners as well as marketing consumer facing web applications and websites. They should be an expert in business planning, modeling, pitching, presenting, and taking potential partners from prospect to customer. They should also have experience in consumer facing online marketing and social media. The position requires someone who can quickly master different business verticals, has the credibility and persuasive powers to move large entrenched organizations, and has the organizational skills to market simultaneously across several verticals.

5 years of Internet experience with a startup serving large brands or in consumer facing web is essential. Experience with media, gaming, distance learning, social networks, virtual goods, video conferencing, online celebrity or branded entertainment, fantasy sports, and poker is all relevant. MBA and some contract experience strongly preferred.

Shindig is a NYC startup committed to unleashing the unrealized potential of video chat by allowing free flowing engagement of all participants in group chat. Current video chat ignores the fact that staring at the person you are talking to is not natural, and the feeling that they are doing the same back at you is highly discomforting. Shindig technology is all about making video chat comfortable by ridding it of its imprisoning structure and tailoring it to particular circumstances. With our technology, we are creating revolutionary new types of web experiences revolving around large scale online events, gaming, social networks, distance learning, and other meaningful online activities.

Our company founder and CEO, Steve Gottlieb, is a serial entrepreneur and longtime angel tech investor. His past career highlights include founding and running one of the largest independent music companies in the US, with 30 Gold, Platinum, and Multi-platinum releases to its credit. Our Head of Technology’s previous role was as a Director of Technology at MySpace.
