Overview
Will be founding employee of Bangalore-based subsidiary of company. This position is high touch and will require both technical and non-technical responsibilities as we build out a products team in India. You will work full-time in Bangalore initially from home and assist in the procurement and setup of an office and recruit/grow the engineering development team to 5 to 10 people comprising of 3 to 4 software engineers (PHP), 1 systems administrator, 1 web/graphics designer, 2 QA engineers, 1 office coordinator. You will serve as a technical mentor to your team to overcome engineering problems and obstacles as they are encountered.
Responsibilities
Act as a founding General Manager of Bangalore office (1st employee)
Recruit and manage development team in Bangalore
Serve as technical mentor to your engineering team
Report to and coordinate with US counterparts on a regular basis (via Skype/VOIP/IM)
Experience
have previously worked at a web products company (Shaadi, Google, Rediff, MingleBox, SMSGupShup, etc) *or* been involved in a startup or personal web project (provide a link to your work)
possess strong interest in the cross section of social media (social games on Facebook like FarmVille, Twitter apps like BackupMyTweets) and mobile apps (iPhone/Android)
be a voracious reader of both standard periodicals (Economic Times, Financial Times) and technology blogs (VentureBeat, mocoNews, Techcrunch) staying up-to-date on latest news and trends
possess strong leadership skills geared towards the management of engineering team
have strong intuitions on creative problem solving
Skills
PHP (5+ years), experience with MVC frameworks preferred (CodeIgniter, Zend)
Solid knowledge of XHTML/CSS
Solid knowledge of Jquery/AJAX and DOM manipulation
Solid knowledge of caching principles (MySQL + memcached front-end)
Solid knowledge of third party APIs (Facebook, Twitter Oauth, Amazon S3, Authorize.net etc)
Solid knowledge of XML parsing/JSON
Comfortable working with PHP command-line (CLI) scripting
Comfortable working in SSH environments on remote CentOS/RHEL Linux server environments
Strong database architecture skills (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
Java (3+ years), Android-oriented preferred but not required
C/C++ (3+ years), Objective-C/iPhone preferred by not required
Education
BS/BE/BTech, Computer Science preferred but not required
Compensation
8-9 lakh/annual + equity (negotiable)
