VP of Software Engineering

at Captain Recruiter in San Francisco, CA   —   Apr 19, 2014   |
Overview
VP of Software Engineering
Company: WhiteHat Security- http://www.whitehatsec.com
Location: 3003 Bunker Hill Lane, Santa Clara, CA 95054

The Company:
WhiteHat Security is the leading provider of website risk management solutions. With more than 2,000 websites under management, WhiteHat Security has an unrivaled real-world perspective on the evolution of website risk management.
Responsibilities
The Role:
This role is all about building enterprise-class software. The VP of Software Engineering owns all of software development, including quality assurance and build & release. You are an advanced software architect with a love of data-driven applications; you can dig into an existing codebase, learn the foundation you've got to work with, and then implement solutions that balance business and technical needs. For engineering management, you'll be the person who builds the team, participates in code reviews, and makes sure everyone has what they need to be successful. Lastly, you are business savvy. By staying on top of the pulse of the company and it's customers, you have a stronger sense of how that will affect software architecture. Communicating with non-techies in an elegant manner is one of your strengths.
You'll love this role if you enjoy running a pure software development team. This role does not own product management or the physical infrastructure.
Skills
The Right Person:
An enterprise software executive who enjoys architecture and hands-on management.
Design patterns about how to build software that is performant, maintainable, and extendable are burned into your brain.
Understands the business needs of an organization, including how time to market affects architecture decisions.
Your inner techie is still able to participate in the occasional code review (not a core duty).
Strong Agile leadership skills. Waterfall is so out of fashion!
Compensation
Things to Know:
* Full-time, regular position.
* Reports to Chief Strategy Officer.
* Compensation includes salary, bonus, stock options, and benefits.
