Web Developer
Responsibilities
Visual.ly is looking for a well-rounded, web developer with HTML5, CSS3, and JQuery/JavaScript web development experience. Candidates should have at least three-years experience building web or mobile applications and should be excited and challenged by the opportunity to build a remarkable, new cloud-based application from the ground-up in a start-up environment.
Experience
3+ years web software development experience.
Skills
Working knowledge of database fundamentals SQL, MySQL.
Pursuing B.S. or advanced degree in computer science or related technical/engineering degree.
Experience with mobile application development a plus: iPhone/iPad, Android, or Blackberry.
Experience with one or more of the following programming language such as PHP, Python, Java, or Ruby.
High-level of energy, initiative, self-management, self-motivation, and passion.
Must be entrepreneurial, thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment, and be excited by the chance to play a large role.
Preferred: Experience with modern web APIs – Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and REST/ JSON Web Services.
Preferred: Working knowledge of Google App Engine, Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, SES).
Preferred: Solid understanding of SOA, HTTP, Web Services, XML, and extensible API’s.
Preferred: Working knowledge of SVG, Flash and Google's SVGWeb Library
Must be located near San Francisco and able to start right away.
Nice to have: experience with javascript/svg based data visualization packages like Protovis or d3.js and experience with data visualization techniques.
Education
BS Computer Science or other related work experience.
