LocalGrown is looking for a result-oriented, passionate programmer to help develop our net-marketplace, corporate site, and online community. The Web Developer position is a ground floor opportunity and will be responsible for helping create our next-generation commerce platform and transforming the way food is marketed, sold, and purchased in local food systems. The right candidate has a strong fundamental knowledge of CS (data structures, algorithms, etc) and a demonstrated ability to understand both the possibilities and constraints of web applications and large data problems.
The performance of the Web Developer will be critical in our success, and as such, will be compensated with an generous equity position in the company. Compensation will be equity based initially, but will grow into a salaried role as we secure additional funding and/or drive revenues. We are currently headquartered in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, but a remote office/telecommuting in the upper Midwest is acceptable depending on the experience of the candidate. This position will report directly to the Sr. Developer.
Help develop net-marketplace platform, including commerce and online community solutions.
Help design and develop complementary mobile applications for Android, Windows 7, and iOS devices.
Contribute ideas and help developp new applications or enhancements to our site, store and social media tools.
Work with marketing, business development, and customer service teams to vet requirements for new product features and provide force estimates for those features.
Work with vendor partners that can support the development needs of the LocalGrown platform.
Help perform QA and user acceptances testing and track and communicate results.
Work with design team to develop and make available user-driven templates (for user Seller Pages).
Develop/implement Content Management System (CMS) to manage social media and content for for online community.
Help manage overall IT infrastructure including network, hardware, software, connectivity and telephony.
Expert-level knowledge of cross-browser, cross-platform compatibility and design constraints.
Experience utilizing Web 2.0 technologies and deep understanding of scalable web architectures, queuing and partitioning.
Experience using agile development best practices including scalability, security, usability, load-time, and basic SEO.
Background working with version control systems, such as Subversion or CVS .
Experience implementing social network APIs such as Facebook Connect, Twitter.
Excellent verbal and written skills, with proven ability to communicate complex ideas and to design and document projects in a clear, concise way to non-technical users.
Able to work independently, efficiently meet deadlines, and communicate promptly via phone, email, and IM.
Background and passion for working in a startup environment a plus!
Bachelors degree in computer science, MIS, or equivalent experience.
