Overview of the position: is seeking a Technical Founder to shape the direction of the website.

Work closely with company founder to select best technologies required to produce highly scalable, reliable, user-generated content site (Web 2.0).

Ground floor opportunity for Web 2.0 startup.

Create your own development team, working with founder, by interviewing and selecting from candidates.

Actively manage, coach and mentor 4-5 direct-report developers, creating a welcoming, team-oriented work environment.

Collaborate with development team and founder to produce requirements specification for website and to report on general progress of team.

Act as communications bridge between business management and web development team.

Manage code repository, code commenting, develop best programming practices for team.

Flexible work schedule and environment, stock options, majority of work performed from home office.

Overview of the company: is startup web 2.0 corporation formed in Delaware. The company was founded by a “serial entrepreneur” who has founded prior technology companies and is well known in business circles in New York City. The founder has a background in physics, software development, international sales, venture capital, gorilla marketing and has been infatuated with computers since he saved up to buy his first one, in 1981 for $20. He was 10 yrs old.’s immediate plans are to develop and launch the website, building a very unique and rapidly growing online community, replacing a lot of redundancy in online communities / social networking sites on the web today.

After the launch and a period of growth, the founder will use established personal connections within the venture capital community to secure funding. Ultimately, will position itself as a target for acquisition. Stock options are available to the lead developer as well as all founding members of the development team.
Attend brainstorming sessions to develop requirements specification for web application, including technical specification, screen shots, application features lists.
Select and manage development team from pool of candidates.
Nurture/mentor/coach junior developers, including hands-on coding or examples.
Be able to hold conversations with founder regarding pros and cons of specific technologies as they apply to website development.
Be on call for emergency situations.
Be a technical “guru”.
Divide work up among development team, coordinate deliverables, manage code repository and version control. Handle all aspects of the development team and set it up to run like clockwork.
Relevant college coursework or experience required
Deep, vast knowledge and experience of web development technologies (Examples: XHTML, CSS, PHP, CGI, XML, MySQL, Flash, etc… etc…) Ideal candidates will know how to code the entire site themselves, but will rely on the team to ensure timely delivery.
Outstanding communications skills
Commitment to building a good working environment for development team
Ability to perceive technical problems before they develop (selecting appropriate platforms for scalability)
Entrepreneurial spirit
Willingness to do what it takes to get the job done and get the site up live, tested and bug free
Only one - be a technical visionary and guru. You will shape the technical aspects of this web 2.0 startup.
Pursuing a BS or a completed BS in a technical field required.
Percentage ownership of the company *before* the venture capital funds arrive, meaning you'll make out big when, together, we launch this site.
