Second Glass is a wine events and technology company based in Boston, but about to expand to LA and nationwide! We’ve just re-launched our website and have moved over from a blog-type format to a custom-built site with user-generated content, a huge wine database, and events directories. We’re also building mobile technology to enhance the wine tasting experience at our own events and beyond that let users track, remember, and share what they’re drinking.
We’re looking to hire a bunch of developers in 2011 to help us roll out new features on our website, develop our next-generation mobile sites and apps, and generally help us create awesome, kickass technology to help people DRINK MORE WINE! We’re based in Boston but will be opening an SF office in the fall.
Day-to-day responsibilities will be varied — we’re looking for someone who can learn quickly and work well as part of a team, but also be able to manage their own projects and take responsibility for their work. We don’t have a hard description for this job. Love the web? Love mobile? Love databases? We have a spot for you!
A little about you:
You are up for a challenge and ready to get your hands dirty
You can learn a new language or framework in the morning and have a demo ready in the afternoon
You are 21+
You are an all-around awesome person to have in the office
You have a passion for cool technology, but know how to translate that passion for non-technical people too
We’re looking for technical skills in:
Python, specifically Python for the web with the Django framework
Mobile dev experience! Titanium Appcelerator and/or Objective-C/iPhone SDK, or Java with the Android SDK
Standards-compliant HTML/CSS, a solid grasp of the DOM
AJAX development with jQuery
MySQL or other relational databases
Experience developing and using APIs from the server and client sides
Linux-based server administration
More importantly, you need to be able to work on a ton of different stuff and learn quickly — these aren’t hard requirements! If you know at least three of the above and have at least heard of the others, we’re probably interested!
Bonus points for:
Experience in UI/UX design
Social media chops-show us your tweets!
Data visualization experience
Pointers to awesome web/mobile sites and/or apps you’ve built
Proficiency in Photoshop/Fireworks or similar
Good drinking stories
