Web engineer

at SeatGeek in New York, NY   —   Feb 04, 2012   |
Overview
We're looking for a really smart engineer, someone who's super-hungry and sees building web apps as more than just a job. In a perfect world, we'd hire someone who has deep experience with all the technology in our stack: nginx, EC2/S3, PHP/Symfony, MySql (with lots of scale), Javascript/AJAX, and HTML/CSS. But not a problem if you're only a pro with some of those. What is critical is that you can learn quickly and love building usable, elegant web apps.
Responsibilities
Work as a generalist across SeatGeek's web app, building new features and improving our performance/scaling
Design scraping processes to gather data that drives SeatGeek's algorithm
Experience
Extensive experience building high-performance web apps, preferably with PHP and MySQL (the hiring decision will be largely based on what you've built)
Experience with the Symfony framework is a plus, but is not necessary assuming you've used
Skills
Familiarity with agile development
Fanatical about writing clean, well-commented code
Javascript/AJAX/Prototype skills are a plus, but are not necessary
Compensation
Competitive base salary and a meaningful equity stake in a well-funded early stage company
Superb benefits package, including full health/dental/vision insurance
