Windows Admin/Developer for Sports Based Social Networking Website

at imleagues in Chapel Hill, N Carolina   —   Aug 28, 2010   |
Overview
We’re a startup intramural sports based social networking website based in Raleigh, NC. The website has been in development for over 3 years, running live since late August 2008. Since going live our site has grown to over 80,000 users and over 1 million page views/month, and we’re still continuing our rapid expansion! This would be a great opportunity for someone looking to influence all areas of a startup company, especially managing developers, servers, and developing features. You will have the freedom to make creative decisions that influence the company, and the ability to get in on the ground floor of a company that is poised for huge growth in the near future.
Responsibilities
We are looking for a very energetic person to lead our team of programmers, manage our servers, and program additional features for our site. You will be involved in every area of the site, so to really make this work you should be enthusiastic and truly excited about the future of our website and embrace the unique challenges of a bootstrapped startup. You should have team lead experience and also be able to study and understand already created code on your own and be able to make updates and add advanced features to our site. You will be managing our team of 3-4 telecommuting programmers, so you will need to figure out which features to give to which programmer, hold a daily status call, make sure the programmers are staying on track and doing the right things, and help when programmers get stuck. We will also expect you to help with issues that come up that need immediate fixing (even if they come up at crazy hours…a fairly rare occurrence) and also work on programming some of the more complex features yourself to help us add new features as fast as possible. You will also be responsible for administration of the servers, managing the QA test environment and performing production upgrades when they will affect the least amount of users.
In addition to a fair amount of programming, this job could include: detailing out and designing new projects/features for our site, code/database optimization, load-testing and security checks. Successful applicants would be experienced in: Windows Admin of Server 2008 and SQL 2008, ASP.NET, C#, AJAX, SVN and Visual Studio 2008.
