Do you like food AND the internet?
Do you support small farms?
Do you believe in buying local?
Are you a mid to senior level web engineer with outstanding software architecture skills and years of experience to back it up?
Then come work with us at FarmersWeb!
FarmersWeb is a New York based eCommerce platform that connects local farmers and producers with local wholesale buyers. The goal of FarmersWeb is to increase market access and efficiency for both farms and buyers, which in turn will enable more local food to reach the end customer.
This is a full time contract role for a minimum of 3 months and a very high likelihood of renewal and continual full time work after the contract.
Basic project goals (and hopefully previous experience in):
Work directly with the CTO (a development guru with 15+ years of experience) to answer the age old refactor vs rewrite question (are you a Joel or a Jeff?)
Help mentor and lead a small team of junior engineers to implement the plan and push it live
FarmersWeb is currently built on a proprietary (ick) MVC framework on the faithful LAMP stack with a large dose of the Doctrine ORM and an ugly dependence on jQuery. So you should have all, but the revamp is going a different direction, so you should have exemplary chops in:
Software architecture / modeling
Unit + Selenium-like Testing
RESTful service development
