Overview
Tapulous is looking to hire a great Engineer to join our expanding team of rockstar iPhone developers
Our business is expanding and we need an up-and-coming iPhone Engineer to compliment the team. You are likely a recent graduate from a top engineering school, or a self-taught computer genius, looking to be part of something big. You will work hand-in-hand with a seasoned engineering team that has a combined 25 years of experience at Apple.
You will be expected to be a self-starter and a fast learner, but you will also be coached by some of the best in the business. We pride ourselves on not just making great products, but writing clean, professional code.
You’ll gain tons of experience in a fast-paced environment, and have a lot of ownership over what you do, to a degree largely impossible at bigger companies.
Responsibilities
Participating in our weekly process, loosely based on Scrum methodology, which includes setting goals, working towards completing them, keeping the team apprised of your progress, and showing off what you’ve accomplished at week’s end
Working on features in our iPhone games and applications, which could include any number of cool things to do with location, social networks (ours and 3rd party networks like Twitter and Facebook), music & sound, incorporation of user-generated content, tying our client code to critical server-side functionality, and building socially connected games that take full advantage of the rich iPhone SDK API
Interacting daily with the systems that are used in professional software development: bug tracking, source control, etc.
Experience
Demonstrated fluency in a compiled language
Exposure to Objective-C, ideally through some commercial experience (Mac OS X and/or iPhone), a university course, or independent iPhone application development
Excited about working in a fast-moving, high-profile start-up. You’ll be writing code that will ship within weeks to millions of people. At times, this means there are less predictable work hours, and problems that require more inventiveness to make up for somewhat fewer resources. If you have Macgyver-like tendencies, we’ll put them to good use.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience (preferred)
Compensation
This job is based in our downtown Palo Alto office, which is a two-minutes walk from the Caltrain. We are surrounded by dozens of shops, restaurants, and bars. Our retail location means that fans drop in every day to say hi, sign our guest book and tell us what they think we should be working on next. For employees who commute via Caltrain, we provide 3G cards.
