Stop Working for the Man! in San Francisco

Hi! Philip and Ryan here from the LoveMachine. http://www.lovemachineinc.com We're the founder and one of the creators of Second Life, and we've started a new company.

We're developing several very interesting pieces of software and we might be able to use your help. We're also doing things differently in terms of how we work together:

We don't do interviews, and we don't believe that paying people a monthly salary in exchange for telling them what to do makes sense anymore. It may never have. I know, I know, that's just crazy talk.

How we do things here is different - we have a worklist (http://dev.sendlove.us/worklist/worklist.php ) which contains what we need done and are doing. Find something you want to do and bid on it. Ping us in our journal. We give you a sandbox on our dev system and you do the work. If we like your work and your prices, we give you more stuff to do. There are other devs (and us) in the chat channel to answer questions (http://dev.sendlove.us/journal/ ). If there is something you think we need that's not on the list, tell us.

Also, based on the amount of work you've done, you get bonus money to distribute to everyone else in whatever way you think makes sense. That includes us, the founders. It's a very compelling way of building software. As we become profitable, we'll distribute net income in the same way. This is different than the traditional stock option based startup - we all participate in the success of the company equally and immediately.

We are actively building great software, and we are looking for PHP/MySQL development, iPhone development, QA, and Program Management. Do you do SEO voodoo? We want you, too! We need people that are skilled generalists, fun to work with, and that can be trusted with root on our various machines. We are also working on some projects that need skilled C++ programmers. This could either be a part-time or full-time thing depending on you and your skills. We're flexible.

We're a San Francisco based, VC-backed technology startup. We have several projects in different stages of development using PHP, MySQL, and jQuery running on EC2/Linux. We're using a job-based development process with an open codebase, where talented programmers around the world bid on and complete the well-defined programming tasks we post in our live work journal; contractors are paid immediately upon code commit via PayPal. We are part of a software development company created by the founder and one of the creators of Second Life, Philip Rosedale & Ryan Downe.

We have had a great year and are now working on some new offerings, as well as improving our current applications, and have a lot of tasks available. We are based in San Francisco,California, but our staff is international and you may work from anywhere in any country around the globe.

The Worklist -
The Worklist is a marketplace to rapidly prototype and build software and websites using a global network of developers, designers and testers.

Coffee & Power -
Coffee & Power connects buyers and sellers of small jobs in a way that's fast, fun and rewarding. They’re called 'Missions', and they include everything from lunch delivery to Portuguese lessons to helping setting up your WiFi at home.

LoveMachine -
The Cool New Employee Recognition System LoveMachine was conceived in 2005 as a new way to help organizations measure individual employee contribution through peer feedback.

Kanoodl -
Phase one of Kanoodl is a web based background music service for businesses. Customers can interact with and influence the music playing around them at Kanoodl enabled locations. Using the Kanoodl web app users can rate songs, share the music with friends, and more.

ThreeSpace -
ThreeSpace is an augmented reality app for IOS devices. Through GPS tagging, we will allow our users to modify their environments, virtually.

OpenGL / C++ Devs Needed for Startup Project in San Francisco

We are a part of Coffee & Power, a venture backed San Francisco software firm created by the founder of Second Life, Philip Rosedale. Worklist is a marketplace to rapidly prototype software and websites using a global network of developers, designers, and project managers. Work from anywhere in the world and get paid via PayPal as you complete jobs from our worklist.

We are looking for your expert OpenGL/C++ skills to help breathe life into our latest project, "Interface". We are doing a lot of experimentation relating to virtual reality and client rendering that will lead to larger projects down the road. For our early stage development, we are posting smaller tasks on our Jobs list (https://www.worklist.net/worklist/worklist.php) That will allow you to contribute in your free time and get paid as you complete each job. Some of the initial tasks are fairly basic, but we are quickly ramping up this new project and there will be more work as we progress.

We are looking for coders with the following experience and skill-sets:

- Passion for software design and development
- C/C++ programming skills
- Graphics programming experience with OpenGL.
- An eye for designing UIs and workflows
- Exposure to API design, documentation, and testing
- Familiarity with compiler architecture and algorithms – ideally including front-endparsing, optimization and back-end/instruction selection.
- An appreciation of multi-threaded and/or parallel computation and associated difficulties.
