Seeking co-founder and CTO for new web dev startup in New York

I’m looking for someone to join me as co-founder and CTO of a new web development firm that will be built on passion, customer service and innovation. Unlike traditional web dev firms, we will disrupt the marketplace with total transparency and a drive to build something that transcends our core services.

Our focus will be to provide small businesses with custom web solutions (web apps, ecommerce and mobile / android), however as we advance I would also like to create a product or product line.

As CTO you will need to code, manage a distributed team and help guide the direction of our company.
I consider myself a very driven person who is passionate about technology. However doing what you love means having a good time doing it. I’m not looking to partner with someone who takes things way too seriously. At the risk of sounding like I’m on match.com, here is what I’m looking for…

- Someone who is passionate about some aspect of (or all) technology
- Enjoys coding outside of “work” – open source contributions a plus
- Has worked for or with small businesses or startups
- Willing to take risks, persevere through the good, bad and ugly.
- Has mastered PHP, Ruby or Python along with an associated MVC framework (CodeIgniter, Rails, Django, etc)
- Understands agile or has practiced agile methods in software development
- Last but not least, must be motivated and willing to learn new technology and philosophies. You must want to grow as a person.

A quick “about me”; I currently run a small web development firm, Webnflow. Why am I looking to start another? While I have successfully built up client relationships in the past year, I have also come to the realization that I need to completely restructure how I work and think.

My current model consists solely of outsourcing my development to India. Despite my best quality assurance efforts, I am unable to provide the product I want in this manner. To counter this, I will change overseas / distributed team members, but more importantly I will focus on building an in house team. My services are advertised as general web development, whereas now I’d like to have a specific focus – small business and startups. My current business partner is no longer able to dedicate enough time to the business due to outside obligations. As a result I will be taking on more of a business role and therefore need a CTO.

For all of these reasons (and more) I have decided to start fresh, rebrand and begin building something meaningful and worthwhile. I’m in the process of building the brand and can present this to you when appropriate.
