Technical Co-Founder in Detroit

The Picket Report is an exciting, well-funded Detroit start-up is seeking a technical co-founder who would be in charge of developing our flagship web application. The individual must be a self-starter who is familiar with the start-up lifestyle and work atmosphere.

Required skills/experience include:
- Demonstrated expertise with a high level web programming language and/or framework (e.g. PHP, Ruby on Rails, Python/Django)
- Demonstrated expertise in database design using SQL/mySQL/PostgreSQL
- Demonstrated expertise in cross-browser and standards compliant HTML/CSS
- Demonstrated experience in a Javascript framework (preferably jQuery)

"Nice-to-have" skills/experience include:
- Experience with maps APIs (any platform)
- Experience with Esri APIs
- Experience with PDF report generation with a web programming language
- Experience working with start-ups

You will be asked to provide a portfolio of relevant work as well as at least three (3) references. Full-time participation out of our Detroit office would be required starting in late February 2011. This is a paid position plus equity incentives are available.

The Picket Report is an online neighborhood research tool that helps clients who are moving, save hours of time and energy spent searching fragmented and difficult to find lifestyle information when it comes to buying or renting a home. We do this by providing a central site that allows them to quickly research crime, schools and neighborhood demographics in an easy to read, interactive report.
